About StrayDog

StrayDog produces news, promotion and information videos, specializing in the environmental and ecotourism sectors. The goal of the company is to generate awareness of sustainable tourism to the general public through the television and internet media.

Our passion for the environment, combined with our skills and experience in marketing and video production, result in dynamic, engaging documentaries and news articles.

What is ecotourism? What does it mean to be environmentally responsible? Just what does it take to save – and preserve – this planet?

There’s no simple answer to these questions, and the answers you might get are often contradictory. StrayDog ventures to unique destiinations to learn how people, industry and nature work toward common – and sometimes opposing – environmental goals.

Barbara Best

What’s your role at StrayDog?
My primary role is producer. I also act as lead researcher and writer for the segments. As a marketing specialist, I also manage communications, advertising and promotions.

Tell us a little about your career history.
I’ve been in the travel industry for years – almost since I graduated from university. After working in client services and program development for the incentive travel market, I crossed over into communications and marketing. That’s when I became more involved in strategic analysis and writing, which I love. Writing projects range from corporate communications to business editorials and travel articles.

What’s your involvement in the environmental and ecotourism sectors?
The sustainability of our environment has been a passion of mine since 1990. I’m always trying to adapt my lifestyle to reduce or eliminate any harmful environmental impact. I’m a graduate of the George Washington University’s Eco Tourism Management course and am a member of World Wildlife Fund, Ontario Nature, the Eco Club and The International Ecotourism Society. I learn a lot through these organizations and StrayDog supports their efforts. On a local level, I am a member of the Town of Aurora’s Environmental Advisory Committee.

Jonathan Forde

What’s your role at StrayDog?
I’m co-developer and director for StrayDog productions.With my extensive creative and technical skills with the Final Cut Pro and After Effects editing systems, I’m able to transform raw footage to finished video quickly and with pretty remarkable results. When I’m behind the camera, I try to capture the essence of the people and places we shoot.

Tell us a little about your career history.
Since 1990, I’ve traveled the world creating video magic for corporate clients such as General Motors, RBC Insurance, Allergan and Kodak. My work in broadcast extends to documentaries and series television. I bring my experience and enthusiasm for video to every assignment I take on, whether my role is cameraman, editor, director – or all three!
